Emotional Melissa McBride said in a farewell video before the final episodes of the walking Dead. AMC’s zombie drama returns with its final eight episodes on Sunday, October 2, and concludes with the series’ finale on November 20. The Walking Dead: Meet the Dead Generation A documentary, featuring a taped goodbye – or see you later – from cast members Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Khari Payton, Paula Lazaro, Michael James Shaw, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. “It was a real honor to play this role for eleven seasons, and to get to know so many of you,” Daryl Dixon’s representative, Reedus, who has appeared in all eleven seasons, said in the video. “Thank you for being with us on this crazy journey.”
McBride, the only other member of the cast from the start, adds, “Thank you for watching. Thank you for talking about it. Thank you for making videos. I have to remember that this isn’t a goodbye. It’s a sincere thank you. Because without the fans, it wouldn’t have been This would never have happened. It would have never happened.”

Cohan, a veteran of the series since season 2, echoed McBride’s sentiments: “I’m so grateful we got the chance to make this happen and it means so much to you. We couldn’t have done it without each other.”
King Ezekiel promised Payton the walking Dead He would “end it with great fanfare,” while co-star Lazaro thanked fans “for all of your continued love and support.”
“It is precisely because of you that we can make this show, and precisely because of you that we have worked so hard to put on a great show,” says the representative of the Princess. “So thank you. Gracias.”
The series’ newcomer Shaw, who joined the final season as Armored General Mercer of the Commonwealth, thanked fans for welcoming him into TWD family. A representative of Negan Morgan adds, “Thank you for every second of those eleven years. Thank you for your passion. The reason we did this—and I’m sure I wouldn’t be the first to say it—is because of you. That’s why we’re doing it.”
“I’ve never been involved in anything like walking dead fan base. “I would never do that,” Morgan concluded. It has been an honor to take this journey with all of you. We’ll see you the next day.”
Morgan and Cohan will meet again The Walking Dead: The Dead City, a secondary order that sends Negan and Maggie to travel together to post-apocalyptic Manhattan. AMC’s walking dead The universe expands even further with Daryl Dixon’s untitled solo series, which sends Daryl abroad on a mission in France. (McBride withdrew from Daryl / Carol sub-show since reworked to focus on Daryl; Reedus teases McBride’s plans to return as Carol.)
The network is also working on an untitled sub-series that brings together partners Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Lincoln was previously set to return in the since-cancelled film trilogy that was announced in 2018. All three sub-series are scheduled to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2023.
